North County Community Girls Softball League

|
The North County Community Girls Softball League is a recreational girls fastpitch softball league serving northern Anne Arundel County. The NCCGSL is a member and plays under the rules of PONY Girls Softball (Protect Our Nation's Youth).
WELCOME
The NCCGSL Board of Directors has voted to accept the Request for Membership from the Crofton Athletic Council's Girls Softball program.
The Crofton organization will bring 8 to 10 teams and approximately 200 new players into the league.
They will begin playing in the NCCGSL in the 2009 season.
Congratulations and Good Luck to the CAC organization.
We look forward to your participation in the upcoming season.
VOLUNTEERS
Youth organizations are dependent upon volunteers to perform all of the functions necessary to make their programs successful. Volunteers work as managers, coaches, instructors, mentors, administrators, equipment and facilities maintenance persons, concessions workers, purchasing agents, boosters, and whatever other duties are necessary to provide the best for the kids in their organizations. These volunteers perform their duties without expectation of recognition or compensation. Therefore, it is gratifying when the community recognizes individuals for their contributions.
Two volunteers from within the NCCGSL family recently received such recognition:
Paul Higgins
Softball Coach & Treasurer
Harundale Youth Sports League
Glen Burnie High School recently unveiled the school’s new Wall of Honor, which recognizes alumni for their achievements and contributions in the community and the world at large.
Paul Higgins, a 1978 graduate, was one of the first 8 alumni honored at the unveiling. In addition to coaching teams and serving as Treasurer at HYSL, he has served as Youth Programs Director for the Knights of Columbus, as well as serving as an officer or chairman for a variety of causes, including: Freetown ES PTA, Marley MS Replacement Committee, BIG Glen Burnie Carnival Committee and his local community association. Paul has also been recognized for his contributions by state legislators, the county executive, and was awarded the Distinguished Community Services Award by the Director of the National Security Agency.
Audrey Hall
Concessions Manager
“Miss Audrey’s Snack Shack”
Brooklyn Park Youth Athletic Association.
Audrey Hall, known to generations of players and parents as “Miss Audrey”, has served as the Concession Stand Manager for the Brooklyn Park Youth Athletic Association for the past 41 years!
Everyone knows the stand at Brooklyn Park’s 10th Avenue Fields as
“Miss Audrey’s Snack Shack”.
“Miss Audrey’s” service to the BPYAA and the Brooklyn Park community was recognized by the Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame, who voted her the recipient of this year’s
County Executive’s Award.
Pictured, Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold presents “Miss Audrey” with her award, then shares a laugh with those in attendance during her acceptance speech.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of the NCCGSL is to provide a team, in a supervised, safe, and fun environment, for any girl age 4 through 19 who wants to play fastpitch softball, regardless of her talent level.
All players are guaranteed a minimum of three innings of defensive field play per game. All teams must bat the entire roster of girls present.
LIGHTNING POLICY
If ANYONE sees lightning, no matter who or how far away, all play stops immediately! All fields and dugouts must be cleared. Everyone must go to the parking area and get into your vehicles. The game may not resume until the skies are lightning-free for 30 minutes from the time of the last sighting. This does not mean stay in a covered dugout or any other place you think is safe and dry. Do not stand under trees!! Do not play weatherman. If the storm has "passed", play may not resume if lightning appears anywhere!
It is best to postpone the game if lightning continues and play is stopped for 40 minutes or more. The game resumes from the point at which it was postponed. Delay time is not deducted from your two hour time limit.
>>> A host organization's lightning policy that exceeds these minimums supersedes the NCCGSL guidelines. <<<
Anne Arundel County Recreation & Parks
The policy of the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation & Parks states: the use of tobacco products, alcohol, firearms and motorized vehicles are prohibited on all county property.
>>>> Parking is prohibited in all Emergency Vehicle Access zones! <<<<
Clean up after your pets! Pets are not allowed inside the fenced areas and must be leashed.
Your cooperation is appreciated.
